The Civil Defence Emergency Management Group meeting was held via audiovisual link due to COVID-19 Alert Levels and protocols. Members were advised that to ensure public access to the meeting, it was being livestreamed.
It was advised that FNDC Councillor Kelly Stratford is to replace Councillor Ann Court as the alternate for Councillor Dave Collard.
Action: in other business, it was noted that a drought risk assessment for the 2021/2022 summer should be put in the next meeting agenda on 10 November 2021.

Secretarial note: FNDC have advised that they are working on getting an additional Controller.
Secretarial note: Northland CDEM Manager advised that we are looking to bring on additional Controllers for KDC.
Action: Secretary to change the FENZ Representative Commander from Brad Mosby to Wipari Henwood.
Secretarial note: this item was discussed at the CDEM Coordinating Executive Group, where all were in favour of supporting this project.
Secretarial note: it was asked how to connect those who cannot be helped by other welfare agencies during the COVID-19 Delta Variant Resurgence? It was advised that these ‘custom cases’ should be sent to the Civil Defence Welfare team via welfare@nrc.govt.nz.
Secretarial note: Graeme MacDonald gave a verbal update on behalf of Mel Tipton, FENZ Property Manager, on the Multi-Agency Coordination Centre. Key points included:
· Fire and Emergency New Zealand Deputy Chief Executive has approved in principal, the feasibility of a Multi-Agency Coordination Centre being developed.
· The site comprises 10 allotments located on the corner of Bank Street and Mansfield Terrace in Whangārei.
· FENZ will provide a presentation at the next CDEM Coordinating Executive Group meeting 10 November 2021.
Action: report on the Multi-Agency Coordination Centre to go to Northland Forward Together on 23 November 2021.
