·            Aerial Application of Seed using Drones for Erosion Control Mitigation (Item 4.2): Completed

·            Overview of Water Resources Investigation Projects in Northland
(Aupōuri and Poutō) (Item 4.3): GM Environmental Services, will follow up with GM Regulatory Services for a clearer understanding and status of this action.

·            Soil Conservation Strategy (Item 4.4): Due to be completed at the end of this calendar year.

·            Natural Resources Monitoring progress against KPIs YTD (Item 4.10): KPI’s completed

 

Update on Lake Omapere water quality and MOU with Lake O Trust (Item 4.3)

Presented by: NRC Water Quality Field Operations Manager, Ricky Eyre

·            Suspected botulism event last summer, testing came back inconclusive.  Councillor Craw will check with GM Biosecurity around the amount of Canterbury geese in the region.

·            LOT are yet to come back with decision around the MoU.  NRC are moving at their pace, and will  provide support as issues arise.

Harbour and Estuary ecological monitoring programme and opportunities to expand (Item 4.4)

Presented by: NRC Natural Resources Science Manager, Jean-Charles Perquin

·            Councillor Craw to follow up with NRC Harbour Master around the reinstatement of the Maritime team which will assist in decreasing the indicative costs.

·            Need to look at utilising other agencies to bring in base line data.  MfE are working with KMR for funding for baseline monitoring in the KMR catchment.

·            NRC are currently advertising for an Environmental Monitoring Officer – Māori Relationships to work with iwi/hapu.

Update on implementation of Network Review (Item 4.5)

SWIMSAFE Trial Update (Item 4.7)

·            The working party would prefer comms to point at the swimsafe site rather than LAWA.

Agreed action points:

·            NRC to investigate easier access to the swimsafe site on its website.  There are currently  too many 'clicks' to get there which can be disconcerting to the public.

 

SHaRP and WWW programme update (Item 4.8)

Presented by: NRC Land Management Programme Manager, Ruben Wylie

·            WWW programme concluding December 2022. 

·            SHaRP is in its final year.  Funding has been sought to continue.

·            Land Management Programme Manager will distribute research around the milling of poplars to the working party.
