Secretarial notes:  There is an amendment to the minutes dated 31 August 2023, FNDC mapping for the Waipapa commercial / industrial zone in the Notified Proposed District Plan (Item 3.6)

There was a lengthy discussion around submitting to the FNDC proposed district plan.  It was decided at the meeting to put a submission through, alongside Fred Terry.  Unfortunately, the working group does not have delegated authority to do this, so a submission was put through from Councillor Joe Carr supporting Haigh Workman’s submission.

Agreed action points:

·            NRC has not submitted on the FNDC proposed district plan in relation to flooding.  Cr. Robinson will discuss this at the council meeting on 26 March.

 

Secretarial note:  Post meeting correction – NRC did submit on the FNDC proposed district plan – see attached NRC submission.

·            Members of the working group will put individual submissions through to NRC LTP in relation to having to wait 3 years before funding comes available for this catchment.

The RILEY Upper Kerikeri storage/detention dam (Item 3.5)

Secretarial notes: Sensitivity testing to be completed to investigate further options for a storage/detention dam i.e. going up 1 meter. 

In-depth discussion regarding options using the existing Kerikeri Irrigation Dams i.e., the Dams just need to be connected with pipelines from the existing storage dams.  There will be huge community benefits if we can get economic support. 

Flood Hazard maps will need to be updated with new LiDAR, currently no budget is allocated to this upgrade.

Agreed action points:

·            Further discussions with Pradeep and NRC Rivers and Natural Hazards Manager to discuss/incorporate concepts to evaluate Pradeep’s suggestions.  There is no current budget to complete modelling.

·            Pradeep and NRC Rivers and Natural Hazards Manager to incorporate NRC and Pradeep’s concepts into a presentation and present to NRC’s CE, Community Resilience GM, and Cr. Joe Carr.
